Uncaged Review: Madeline has had a rough life, but she’s finally found some peace in her job as a librarian. One night she is kidnapped and taken to a place called OneWorld, where she is tortured both in her body and her mind. The winged assassin, Dom, an Immortal being who’s job it is to round up the Scourge (immortal beings gone rogue), rescues Madeline and takes her to his place to heal. But things aren’t what they seem, and Madeline begins to evolve and Dom calls in the rest of the assassins to figure out what is going on.
The world building is spectacular, the supporting characters are all well flushed out and the banter between them is fun, sarcastic and witty. The suspense around what is happening in OneWorld and what is happening to Madeline is our main focus here, although there are a couple subplots running in the background. There are also secrets that will continue on into the future books. There are plenty of supernatural creatures introduced and this is a great start to an original new series.
